What did Pierre Poilievre just say?

Did I just hear what I thought I heard? I believe MP Pierre Poilievre (Nepean-Carleton) just said on CBC's The House that a year ago Stephen Harper foresaw the economic problem that Canada finds itself in right now.

Can anybody confirm that?

That is what they have been trying to sell since the public backlash started.

They have been trying to frame their LAST budget as a stimulus package for hard times that had yet to hit.

Yes - he also said political parties should be funded in the same way as minor hockey teams.

"Canada appears content to become a second-tier socialistic country, boasting ever more loudly about its economy and social services to mask its second-rate status." -- Stephen Harper

Hear, hear Stephen. With the Canadian dollar tanked, manufacturing and forestry gasping, and a huge surplus evaporated with nothing to show for it, you should be really ticked-off about all that recent boasting by that socialist government in Canada, led by Stephen Harper. What a poseur, eh!

... Oh.

I can confirm that for you.

He also said that it was the reason for the GST cuts.

If anyone challenges you on this you can download The House for free on iTunes and iTunes is also free.

You may enjoy having a recording of this interview if for no other reason than the sound of disbelief in Kathleen Petty's voice as she tried to give Pierre Polievre the opportunity to clarify the government's position on the expectation and lack of stimulus on the part of the public. And then following that a kind of lilting sorrow and sympathy that he failed to come up with anything to say and kept skirting the issue as she tried to talk to him like a confused little kid and explain what the question actually was.
